I posted a little while ago about an art piece that was in progress here in LJRs by Jade Spranklen. Well here is the finished article!
Love Your Bike Portsmouth is taking place in Southsea on Sunday 30th May. The event which is free and open to all ages kicks off at Southsea Skatepark at 10am, there is a DJ and vintage bike showcase at Parmiters Antiques in Albert Road from 4pm and BBQ and after party here at LJRs from around 5pm onwards. The legend that is DJ Derek will be returning to LJRs on Friday 21st May with support from Albino Monkey and Dharma 77.
Hailing from Bristol’s St Paul’s area, Derek has spent most of his adult life soaked in the culture of the West Indian immigrants that arrived in England in the late 50’s/early 60’s. Derek can be found in one of three places; in a Wetherspoon’s pub (he’s been to every one in the country), on a bus (he’s travelled every National Express route in the country) or blasting out some killer tunes at one of his many gigs around the UK.
LJRs has teamed up with Bored of Southsea for a collaboration t-shirt which will be on sale as part of their summer range. You can purchase online here or pop by the shop in Albert Road.

Bored of Southsea in partnership with Strong Island and The Little Johnny Russells present their Summer T-Shirt Launch Party, featuring LIVE music from The Colourmasks and plenty of earful treats from some of your favourite local DJ’s. Some of you may have heard already, some of you may not. We at Little Johnny Russells are pleased to announce our newest venture soon to be opening in Osborne Road, Southsea. It is called The Belle Isle, the reasons behind the naming will be revealed at a later date. We’re still in the early stages of development so we can’t give too much away at this point because some of it we do not know ourselves. A relaxed atmosphere with a great quality menu is our outlay serving a selection of wines, cocktails and continental beers to accompany what we think is food of the highest order. This Tuesday sees Nick Courtney present his monthly showcase of music talent from Portsmouth. The May addition sees Ade Cull, May-Day, Doubleback Alley, Skaraman, Katie & Alan and the highly coveted, much talked about The Silhouettes with the headline slot.
The entertainment commences at 7.30pm and admission is FREE.
